In recent months, I have met with, or spoken to ambitious CEOs and Managing Director who are planning to build a new distribution team from scratch or significantly increase the size of their existing teams…. and in a relatively short period of time.
When I ask how they feel about their growth plans, they are using words like “optimistic” and “excited” and I can absolutely understand that.
However, their plan to grow has to be backed up by one hell of a plan to deliver that team growth, because there are some very real challenges to be faced, ranging from historic industry issues to ever-changing workforce demographics that put additional pressure on employers when sourcing the top talent they need.
Experiences tell me that many businesses will fail in their attempt to scale up their distribution team because they underestimate the complexity of the task… but you don’t have to.
