Paul Harper Search and Selection is a leading financial services search consultancy established in 1999. We find top talent and businesses for our clients to help them grow. Our search team is collaborative, working together to meet client needs rather than compete with each other, which can sometimes be to the detriment of a client.

During 2020, we've added more financial services specialisms and an M&A division. We've brought in additional researchers, consultants and directors and partner businesses. We're aiming to be the pre-eminent financial services search and M&A business in the UK and are still looking for additional talented people to join us.

Trainees

If you're a graduate just starting out in your career or an A-level leaver with a couple of years experience, we might be interested in you. We seek hungry self-starters with intelligence, personality and ambition to build a career with us. We offer a two-year training plan, which offers on the job specialist training plus time out to undertake external training approved by the UK Government and the REC which will lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

Researchers

A researcher's job is to find the best talent in the market by supporting a search consultant and/or director in completing a highly specialist search assignment. The type of roles you'll be working on will be director level and specialist financial services roles, where the skillset is hard to find. As part of our wider fulfilment team you will contribute to the success of the business as a whole and, most importantly, our success in completing complex assignments on time. This role requires good IT and processing skills, but most importantly, a confident telephone manner as you will approach and build relationships with industry professionals. The role will suit someone with 2+ years’ experience as a researcher or consultant within a professional recruitment or Search firm. 

Search Consultants

A search consultant is a highly skilled and experienced professional with a deep knowledge of the sector in which they recruit. Our search consultants are some of the most experienced and best in the business. While they may come from financial services backgrounds or recruitment, each one has a detailed knowledge of the financial services sector with even greater knowledge or specialism within it, e.g. sales, risk, investment, marketing, technology or Insurance etc.

 

Exceeding client expectations is at the heart of what we do. The consultant's role is to take responsibility for a small number of specialist search assignments, supported by the wider team and with the support of a dedicated researcher. They will be the named contact for any handpicked assignment and will work alongside one of the directors for tailor-made assignments.

This highly skilled job will suit someone with experience in financial services search or a recruitment consultant looking to step up to search who has considerable experience in a specialism within financial services, e.g. technology, fintech, risk, general insurance, et cetera.

Directors

Our directors all make a major contribution to our business. They use their extensive industry contacts to win retained assignments, working closely with the fulfilment team to ensure each assignment reaches a conclusion which delights the client. They are responsible for promoting and securing tailor-made assignments - our offering for senior executives and C-suite roles and handpicked assignments, for mid and senior level management and specialist roles. A director will be personally involved with interviewing for tailor-made roles while they will have oversight responsibility for handpicked assignments won. We are currently seeking directors to build new divisions for us, which enable us to extend the services we can offer our current clients or to extend our current offering into new markets. There is potential for profit participation for the right person.

Joint Ventures and Partnerships

2020 has been brutal to many recruitment businesses but has also created opportunities for the strong to get stronger. We have emerged from 2020 stronger than ever.

We entered our first partnership in 2020 and are open to others. If you own a specialist search or recruitment consultancy and are interested in partnering with us, we're interested in the following:
