Costs of Selection - Less Can Be More
In the current market there is the the need to find quality amongst the quantity of people currently looking for roles. Failing to recruit the best candidate can have a serious long-term financial impact on your business. But have you considered the cost of actually sifting through CVs and interviewing people?
How valuable is your time: if you and your HR team are being bombarded by CVs that seem to bear little resemblance to your ideal candidate, then consider how much this sifting process is costing your company. In our recent newsletter, we told the story of a client who had taken a whole day out to interview six candidates, two of whom never appeared, two were useless and two were very outside possibilities. Both the HR Manager and line manager had spent time looking at CVs, short-listed and then interviewed to be left with no-one to even consider appointing. The cost of wasted days is unacceptable in the current climate, although probably not as expensive as appointing just because the role has to be filled. Hold out for the best: we are telling clients to insist on only seeing candidates that are perfect, or near perfect, matches to their ideal candidate criteria. Don’t waste time interviewing people who aren’t suitable and make your recruitment agencies actually find the candidates you want, rather then getting you to do their job for them!
