Market Review
Bridget Kenny-Levick, Recruitment Consultant at Paul Harper Search & Selection gives her views on the current state of the market The market is a lot more buoyant recently. We are moving away from traditional Life Office roles. We are forging new relationships with boutique/niche companies and companies new to the UK Market and turning our focus more onto Investment and Platform related positions. It is evident that the new relationships we are making have less connections within the Life Offices than our traditional clients and are therefore more in need of our help. The sort of people they are seeking are not necessarily openly on the market. We know these people and can identify them because of our long standing relationships. We are certainly a lot busier than we have been for a long time; there is movement again, not just as a result of people being made redundant or forced to leave their companies, but also from individuals seeking career progression and who have been unsettled by restructures in their own organisations. Nevertheless, these people are not forced to move so there have been a number of declined offers where the recruiting client may not be fully realistic about what it will take to persuade a quality individual to leave the security of their current employment. Some individuals are willing to take a drop in pay from their current position if it means that they can progress their career with a more stable organisation.
